This month, we focus in on Azul Arc’s work with web based workflow applications and resources for managing businesses. Web development is about far more than just web sites and e-mail blasts. ShotBot |
Botvfx, a visual effects outsourcing firm based out of Atlanta, recently approached Azul Arc about building a production and resources management tool. Shotbot is a web based work flow application that allows botvfx to effectively manage production, schedule resources, and bid out projects. Shotbot is built using the Zend Framework, an open-source PHP resource that allowed us to create a customized, secure and reliable application. Roll Master |
We developed a unique scheduling application for a floor covering software firm called Roll Master. The Roll Master Scheduler allows for complex project and resource scheduling via this web application. We used a platform called JWS (Java Web Start Technology) that gives a desktop application like experience with the advantage of a connected web based application.

Application is a common word with several meanings and forms:
- A job application is a list of personal information, experience and achievements that you use for applying
for jobs.
- The verb application means putting something to use.
- The abbreviation “app” now generally refers to phone applications that you would expect to purchase from Apple for you iPhone.
If we started this month’s tools and tips with “Workflow Applications”, you may have stopped reading already. And many may have stopped up top with the feature paragraph and aren’t reading this at all. With the word application having many different forms, meanings and contexts what does workflow application mean for your business?
Workflow applications give a strategic advantage by centrally organizing the key inputs and outputs of your business. They allow you to manage resources, organize clients and communicate more effectively. Building the requirements and carrying them thru can be a daunting task, but in the end these operational tools can become a key tool that you can’t imagine living without.
